Cleaning Out!!

One of the most annoying things for me is clutter, but with seven people in this house you can not avoid it. So my solution is to keep it under control, but how do you do that??

Clean it out!! Attack clutter zones (places in your home that tend to accumulate more stuff than others). This is one of the bad ones in my house, the closet in the laundry room. It just seems like everything gets thrown in there. Well, the other day I simply could not stand it any longer.

This is the before picture, I know it is terrible, but this is how it looked. The trash bag does not have trash in it, it had clothes that I need to get ready for a consignment sale.

So, I took everything out and sorted it. Laundry supplies together, cleaning supplies together, craft supplies together, that sort of thing.

I dusted the shelves, and swept the bottom, and then placed everything back inside neatly.

This is the end result. Tons better than the before picture.

So, how do you keep a handle on clutter??

$1.00 Day at GW!!

Well, I made my weekly trip to the Good Will store, and guess what, it was $1.00 day (yay)!! It always amazes me, the great stuff you can find there. This is what I got:

This is probably my second most favorite find of the day.  It is a bread slicer guide.  I love to make homemade bread, but am terrible at slicing it.  The slice starts off great, but gets really fat at the bottom.  This is going to help so much!!  It was not on the dollar rack, but I only paid $1.50 for it, so I am happy.

This little thing appears to have been used as a planter at one time, but I love the colors (although you cannot really see them in the picture).   I am sure that I can find a perfect place and use for it.

These two were on the $1.00 rack.  The one on the left is a shirt, it is a size larger than I normally wear, but I plan to make it into a shrug.  The one on the right is a little dress, I think the kind that you wear leggings under.

This is absolutely my favorite find of the day.  I found them on the $1.00 rack.  They are a pair of Ann Taylor Loft capris, and they fit perfectly.  This is a rare find for me since I am a short person, I usually never find anything that fits both in length and through the waist, these do!!

So, my grand total for the day was $5.00, whoohoo!!  I love shopping at Good Will, or the G&W boutique, as we sometimes call it.

Did you find some great things today??

Super Savings Saturday, you betcha!!

We got up early this morning, got dressed and started on "the hunt". The hunt for a hard to find Christmas present for my hubby. I was actually standing in line when the store opened to run in and get it, before they were all gone. I can't say what it is, because he may read this post and I don't want to spoil the surprise. However, I am happy to say that I found it!! While I was out I decided to stop by Old Navy, and boy am I glad I did. Check out all of the sweet deals I found. The children's clearance was an additional 50% off, which added up to lots of savings for me. I got seven shirts for the kids, one pack of socks, one winter coat, and four shirts for me. My grand total was $54.81. I thought that was pretty good.

I have also been looking for some boots for myself. The last pair I had, I kept for 4 years and they are in terrible shape. I have been disappointed with the sales on boots, the price never seems to drop lower than $40.00 and I am not willing to pay that much (just too frugal). Well today I stopped by Rack Room Shoes, and guess what I found, Boots. The two pair that I got were $24.00 each. Needless to say I was super happy. I am not willing to pay $40 for one pair, but $24 for a pair of nice cute boots, I could not resist. For anyone wondering why I bought such high heels, I need the height. I am only 4'11", so I do wear super tall shoes.

Overall I was thrilled with my sweet deals today. Did you find some super deals, if so leave me a comment and let me know all about it.
