Resolutionize Your Mommy-tude, Shape Up!!

We are continuing in our Resolutionize series today, we have already covered Mommy Time, Attitude Adjustment, and Dropping the Frump. Today we will be talking about Shaping up!!

That is right, I am sure all of us can use a little shape up, right? I know I have mentioned exercise a couple of times in this series, but I really feel that it is important. Exercise helps with so many things, like stress relief, health, self esteem, and happiness. Let's face it, it is hard to be truly happy, if you are constantly worrying about how you look.

I am not saying that everyone needs to be a size 00, that only happens if you have super human genetics, and I wouldn't recommend it anyway (no offense to anyone out there). I am simply talking about carving out 30 minutes to 1 hour everyday or every other day to squeeze in some exercise. It will make you feel so much better, as long as you are not too ambitious.  Don't try to run a marathon on your first day!!

The next thing we need to shape up is our eating habits. I am not talking about a massive reconstruction here, however if you want to tackle that, by all means go for it. I am talking about making more conscious decisions about the food that you choose to feed to yourself and your family. Maybe try to add a couple more servings of fruits and vegetables every day, or more fiber.

I think you will see that once you start to shape up one area of your life, you will gain a little momentum and keep going on to other areas.

Resolutionize Your Mommy-tude, drop the frump!!

Okay, if you have missed the first two posts in the series, you can check them out here, Resolutionize your Mommy-tude: Mommy Time, Resolutionize your Mommy-tude: Attitude Adjustment.  Today we are going to cover another very important subject, getting rid of the Frump!!  What is the frump you might ask, well I will tell you.

Feeling and looking frumpy come so easily for a Stay At Home Mom.  You begin to get into a rut of "well, no one will see me anyway, so I will just wear my pj's all day".  While it is true that you and your children may be the only people who see you wear your pj's all day, it will start to effect the way you feel about yourself.

I am not suggesting that you get super dressed up every day, because we all have those days when we need to be lazy, but making a little effort will make you feel better.  Why not trade those sweat pants for a pair of jeans, a simple change, but it will make you feel better.

One thing that I have noticed is that when you start to dress that way around your house all of the time, you start to feel that it is acceptable to go out in public that way.  Guess what, it is not!!  You should not wear your pj's in public, ever!!

While you are at it, brush your hair and throw on a little makeup.  I promise you will feel better!!

I can already hear some of the excuses, I don't have the money to spend on a wardrobe, blah blah.  I have great news for you guys, the Good Will has some really great clothes at really great prices.  My local Good Will usually has a $1.00 section, and that is where I find most of my clothes.  You just have to look a little.

While you are addressing the way you dress, make sure you address your behavior as well.  I strongly suggest that you make a little time to exercise and take care of yourself.  Everyone knows that when you feel good about yourself, you act happier.  Take a few minutes every day or every other day to squeeze in some exercise.

I am by no means preaching vanity, but I do think that if you put a little effort into the way you look, you will feel good about yourself.  How you feel about yourself shows to everyone around you, especially your husband and children.  So, in order to set a good example for those children, we should teach them by example.

Resolutionize Your Mommy-tude, Attitude Adjustment!!

Okay all of my moms out there, today we are going to be talking about how to Resolutionize your Mommy-tude, by adjusting your attitude!!

I know that sounds kind of mean doesn't it? Sorry, but let me explain what I am referring to. Not all Moms, but some (especially those with lots of children, like myself) can sometimes begin to feel a little robotic. At times it seems as if you can actually see yourself slipping away, the self you used to be. Your personality, drive, even ambition can all go out the window when you hear someone scream "Mom" at least 200 times in one day. Multiply that 200 by 5 and you have a normal day in my house, haha. My poor husband has heard me refer to myself as a "Mommy blob" so many times, and that is honestly how I felt every time I said it.

So, how do you snap out of that Mommy Funk?? Give yourself a little attitude adjustment!! That is right ladies, if you know it is bad, change it. You, my friend, are not "just a Mommy", you are The Mommy. A lady who can handle anything the day may throw at her, and never look back.   Who else do you know that can handle waking up to "someone pooped in the floor" being screamed loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear at 5:30am??  The Mom, that is who!!  Being able to clean it up and still get breakfast on the table on time, and everyone where they are supposed to be, makes you a super hero!!

So, rather than looking at yourself as "not that great" accept the truth all of you Mom's out there, you are Awesome!!  That's right, you heard me, you are Awesome.  No one is perfect, no matter how they look on the outside.  Don't compare yourself to other moms, other jobs, or even old dreams that you had for yourself.  Start having a little fun, and you will see things differently.

So, the next time you have to break up a fight over the little Lego man or do a poop call, remind yourself that you are an Awesome Mommy.  Changing your attitude about your situation into something positive will make your day so much better!!

Resolutionize Your Mommy-tude!!

Okay everyone, you know what the new year means, all of those new years resolutions, right?? Well, I don't really like to make many resolutions, because I can never seem to keep them, and then I feel bad for breaking them.

However, I have teamed up with the great ladies of The Better Living Network, to bring you the Resolutionize series. Every week each of the bloggers will post about everything from food to shopping. I will link up to their weekly posts, to make it easier for you all to see everything.

My series is how to Resolutionize your "Mommy-tude"!! All you Mom's out there know what I am talking about. Going through the daily motions, thinking about everyone and everything else. Multi-tasking your little heart out, while holding the baby and cooking dinner at the same time, yeah!! I know you Mommy's are out there, because I am one of them!!

However, recently I have learned a very Valuable lesson, if you do not take a little time for yourself, guess what, your head will explode!! Not really, but you will start to feel pretty crumby, and you know the saying "If Mama ain't happy, nobody is happy"!! Sorry, but that word just looks funny, although I am from the south, I really do not like the word ain't and this is probably the first time I have typed it, anyway!!

Today we are going to resolutionize your "Mommy-tude" by finding a space in your schedule for You!! That is right, some time just for You, that does not include the children.

I know some of you out there may be thinking this is impossible, but trust me, you can do it. It does not have to be a super long time, even 10 minutes will do wonders for you. I like to have my time in the morning, before everyone else gets up, but do whatever works best for you.  What should you do in Your time, whatever makes you happy.  I like to check my email and drink an enormous cup of coffee, because that is what makes me happy.  Some of you may like to read, or exercise, and those will work as well.

Whatever activity you decide on, try to make it a point everyday to have your "Mommy Time".  If you are a schedule person, write it in your planner, just like any other appointment.  This is important, especially for your sanity, so just do it!!
