Okay, sorry for yet another absence, but I have been hard at work. You all know I love to sew, and I finally went through with an idea I have had for a while. I now have an Etsy shop, Phebe Sky!! I am still in the process of adding all of my items, and am creating new ones all of the time.

I love creating things, so I have decided to share them with everyone!!

A Skirt For Me!!

Today I am going to share a skirt that I made for myself. I usually sew for my children, but I wanted to try something for me, and the pattern of this particular fabric looked better suited for an adult.

So, I googled for a pattern, and found this tutorial. It was super easy to follow. The only thing I did different was, I only used three pieces of elastic at the top.

This is it, I am not a great model, so forgive the cheesy pose!!

I really liked the way this skirt turned out.  It was the perfect length for me (of course) and it was very comfortable.  Some may like to call this a homemade skirt, I prefer to call it custom made, just for me!!

Sewing Again!!

Did you ever notice how you forget how much you love to do something, until you start doing it again? I have not had time to sew in a while, but started back this weekend. I forgot just how much I love to create things. So, I wanted to share some of the stuff I made.

This was a super simple dress. Three pieces of material and some ribbon. I cut out the front and back, sewed them together. Made the ruffle, and sewed it on, then added the ribbon at the top. I LOVE the way it turned out!!

This is an outfit that I have had for a while. The top is a shorter version of a pillow case dress and the pants are super simple.

Sweatshirt remake!!

I had this shirt in my "remake" box, and wanted to find something fun to do with it. I like the color and the peace symbol on the front. I decided to make a reusable grocery bag with it. It was super simple, I cut off the sleeves and cut it apart. Then I sewed it back together. I used the sleeves for the handles. It took about twenty minutes, and I think it is Super Cute.

Flower Remix #2!!

Last week I posted this dress that I made from some floral material and a purple shirt. I had a little more floral material left and some more material from the purple shirt, so I made another dress. I think this one turned out so cute!!

I sewed a casing into the top for the elastic, and sewed the ruffle onto the bottom. Then I sewed up the side making a tube. Next, I threaded my elastic through, and made my strap. I cut three strips of the purple shirt and braided them together. I like the effect it gave. It took about thirty minutes, and now she has another one of a kind dress, just for her!!

Mini Cinch Sack!!

I had some cute Funky Frog fabric left over, so I decided to make my three year old daughter her own little back pack.

I lined the inside with a coordinating fabric, and used green ribbon that I folded in half and sewed a zigzag stitch down the middle for the straps.

She LOVES the fact that she has her own "back pack"!!

Stashbuster, Spring Dress!!

If you have been reading for a while, you know that I am trying to work my way through my fabric bin. I thought of another cute idea, I had this pink fabric with flowers on it, and a purple shirt. I decided to combine the two and make a dress.

I cut the band off of the bottom of the shirt to use on the top of the dress. Next, I cut the fabric to the length I wanted for the dress. I folded down the edge of the fabric and ironed, and then folded it down again and ironed it. Next I sewed the folded pieces down. Then I sewed the sides together to make a tube.

I then pinned the purple to the top of the floral fabric and sewed it together. I threaded some elastic through and added the straps. I then took some extra material and made the rosettes for the front.

Sweater upcycle!!

I bought this sweater a while back at a yardsale for I think $0.50. I like the color and the neck and sleeves, but did not like the way it fit. I decided to cut it up and make a different kind of sweater.  First I cut it, and then I sewed it with a zig zag stitch so it would not unravel.

This is what I came up with.

Matching Spring Dresses!!

I found another project to use up some of the fabric that I had in my box. I made matching dresses for the two youngest girls. I think they turned out well. I bought the blue fabric from Walmart a while back, and the yellow material came from a shirt I repurposed.

I did not use a pattern, I know you are surprised (haha). I sewed the material into a tube. made a casing at the top and threaded my elastic. I made a hem at the bottom and attached the ruffle. I then added my straps. Just that simple.

Fast and Easy Dress for Me!!

The other day I was in Walmart and they had their fabric marked way down, so I picked up a couple of yards. This is one of the prints that I bought. I wanted to make something cute, but could not decide at first. Then I decided that I would try to make a dress for me. I make them all of the time for the girls, so it should not be that hard, right??

It was super simple, I did not use a pattern. I lined it and sewed it into a tube. I then added the hem at the bottom and a casing at the top for my elastic. I threaded my elastic and sewed on my straps and that was it.

I think it is cute, and the length I want. I am linking to these great parties.

Beginner bag, super easy!!

In an effort to use up some more of my stockpile, I came up with this cute purse. I did not use a pattern, I just eye-balled it!! It was quick and easy, and a great use of some extra fabric.

Sweater into pillow cover!!

I have had this cute sweater in my refashion bin for a while. It is so soft and comfortable, but has become a little too short. So, I decided to make it a sweater. I have seen several of these around in bloggy land, so I gave it a try.

First I placed the sweater on the floor, and shoved my pillow inside to make sure it would fit. Next I took out the pillow and turned the sweater inside out.

I then cut off the sleeves and hood and sewed the bottom and arm holes together.

Next, I turned it right side out through the neck, and inserted my pillow. I sewed up the neck, and that was it.

It took about ten minutes to give my ugly old pillow new life!!

Another super easy skirt!!

I went through my fabric box the other day in an effort to clean it out. I found fabric in there that, I am embarrassed to say, I forgot I had. I want to use us what I have, so I do not feel so guilty about buying more, so I made a list of projects.

This was on the list, I had a piece of this fabric, big enough to make a skirt. It is so simple, I did not use a pattern, or even measure.

I folded over the top and ironed it down. I then did the same to the bottom. Next I added a hem to both the top and bottom. I then placed right sides together and sewed up the side, giving me a tube.

I had some big black elastic, that I thought would look good at the top of the skirt, so I wrapped it around me to see how much I needed, and made my cut. Next I sewed the elastic together and pinned it to the top of the skirt. The elastic gathered the top of the skirt for me.

It was so easy and fast, and a great way to use up a cute piece of extra fabric. I usually make things for my children, so it was fun to make something for me.
