Sweater upcycle!!

I bought this sweater a while back at a yardsale for I think $0.50. I like the color and the neck and sleeves, but did not like the way it fit. I decided to cut it up and make a different kind of sweater.  First I cut it, and then I sewed it with a zig zag stitch so it would not unravel.

This is what I came up with.

Recycled bread crumb container!!

Okay, so lately I have been trying to find ways to recycle some of the items we have in our home, rather than sending them to the landfill. A while back, I made this candle holder. Since then, I have decided to use it to hold cotton balls on my bathroom counter. I wanted something that looked similar, but a little smaller to hold q-tips.

I had this bread crumb container in the cabinet, so I decided to use it as the base for my q-tip holder. I spray painted it brown, and once that was dry, I brushed on a little black and blotted it off. Once all of the paint was dry, I hot glued the glass onto the top.

I like the way it turned out, and that is one less piece of trash from our house. Have you found a creative way to recycle something?

T-shirt revamp, revamp!!

A while back I posted about a t-shirt revamp that I did, but honestly I did not really like it. I was not happy with the way it turned out, and thought I could make it into something better.

So, I added a couple more ruffles and a couple more seams, and I like this version much better. With a black cardigan over it, it will be super cute (or at least I think it will be).
