35 Million children's books, did you know that is the number of books that Cheerios has given out over the past seven years? They have also donated almost $3 Million to First Book, a program that gives books to low income families. What a wonderful thing to do. This company truly cares about children, and wants to make sure that all children learn to read and love to do it.
Not only do they love providing children with books, they love to give aspiring authors a chance to write children's books. This will be the third year that Cheerios has held the Spoonfuls of Stories New Author Contest. This contest gives unpublished authors a chance to have their children's book published. Entries are being accepted until July 15, 2009, and will be judged on the following criteria:
- appropriate story and content for children ages 3-8
- emotional connection
- writing quality
- uniqueness
- read-aloud potential
If you would like to enter, or find out more information on the contest, please visit spoonfulsofstoriescontest.com.
Cheerios and MyBlogSpark have partnered together to offer one lucky winner a Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories gift set. The set will include:

Well, I always thought it was really cool that there was a character in the Babar books named Celeste (like me!) - because I really have never known anyone else named Celeste, so - I'd be Queen Celeste from the Babar books!
