Rather than using round canisters to store items like flour and sugar, use square containers. They actually provide the most storage for the space, and eliminate dead space in your cabinet caused by round containers. You can also stack them much easier than you can stack round containers.

Don't feel that you need to go out and spend tons of money on storage containers, go to your local discount store and purchase the cheap ones. They work well, as long as they have a good seal on them. Make sure you get the clear containers, so you know what is in them instantly when you look at them.
