Shopping With A Mission!!

Hi, I wanted to take a minute to discuss a couple of coupon related questions that I have been asked.

#1. Do you really save money using coupons?

The answer is yes, if you shop wisely. In order to save tons of money using coupons you should match the coupon up with a sale. It is even better if you can find stores that double coupons. By matching sales with coupons you can get items for free many times. If you do not shop wisely you can end up with a lot of things that you do not need, and a higher total at the register. To avoid this, do not buy items only because you have a coupon. If you know you will never use it, then you probably do not need it.

#2. Where do I start?

The first step in Couponing is to collect the coupons. You can do this a couple of different ways.

1. Coupon inserts from the Sunday paper. There are usually coupon inserts located in the Sunday newspaper.

2. Online coupons. Coupons.com and Couponbug.com both have great online coupons.

3. Magazines. All You magazine has several coupons in each issue.

4. Request them from the manufacturer. Many times if you contact a manufacturer and let them know that you love their product, they will be happy to send you some coupons.

5. Home mailers. Sometimes coupons are sent directly to your mailbox in the form of home mailers.

6. Sign up for store loyalty cards and email lists. Many grocery stores send out weekly emails containing information on their weekly sales and coupons.

7. Check in the stores. Grocery stores and pharmacies usually have coupons located throughout the store.

The second step would be to locate the sales. Once you have found the items you need on sale, go through your coupons and find the coupon that matches the sale.

Make a list and stick to it. I find that if I do not use a list, I usually forget something or buy things that I do not need.

It really is possible to save a lot of money on groceries, it just takes a little effort. If you stay organized and stick with it, you will be a pro in no time.
