Birthday Cake and Decorations!!
We all know that cake is an Important part of any birthday party. As with all of the other party aspects, there are several options for cake choice as well. When deciding on your cake, the first choice is homemade or store bought. I have done both. If you decide to go the homemade route, here are some sources that you may find helpful:
- Parenting Magazine recently posted an article with 31 cute cake designs here.
- Coolestbirthdaycakes.com also has some really great cake ideas.
- Makebabystuff.com has a cute idea for a Castle Cake here.
- Familyfun.com has some great ideas for birthday party cupcakes here.
- Passionforparties.com also has some super cute ideas with instructions here.
If you decide to go with a store bought cake, there are also several options for you too. I have found that Wal-mart usually has many designs to choose from, and the price is reasonable.
You may also want to check with you local grocery stores, many of which have a bakery and offer cute cake choices.
Another option to consider is checking out your town (or cities) small independently owned bakeries. I have been able to get some really great cakes, at low prices from our local bakery.
Decorations!!!
Some great places to check for decorations include:
-The Dollar Store
-The Dollar General
-Wal-mart
-Kmart
-One Stop Party Shop
-Oriental Trading
-Birthday Express
It is also a great idea to pick up colored plates, cups, and napkins after the holiday season. If you are having a party that will include the color pink or red, the after Valentines day sale is a good time to stock up. There will be lots of green things after St. Patrick's Day, and Christmas. Always keep your eye out when you are shopping those clearance sales, try to think ahead, and outside of the box.
Don't forget about making your own decorations. If you are a crafty person, you could make some or all of your own party decorations. You imagination is the limit.
So, have fun planning those parties, and be sure to take a lot of pictures.
